A recent study at a hospital in Abu Dahbi found that 67% of the traumatic brain injuries there were caused by car accidents.  The study found that, in the UAE, the mortality rate for head injuries associated with car crashes is 37 per 100,000, making it one of the most dangerous places to drive in the world.  A related study also found that 98% of the victims in the car crashes were not wearing seat belts.  The severity of the head injuries reported in the study was mild in 82% of the head injury cases, moderate in 5%, and severe in 12%.
