It seems that the recent $765 Million settlement between the NFL and former players over head injuries will not end the litigation between players, teams, and perhaps the league itself. Five former Chiefs who played for Kansas City 20-25 years ago have sued the team in Jackson County state court alleging that the team actively lied to them about the dangers associated with head injuries in football, telling the players that it was safe to go back on the field after getting their "bell rung" or "dinged." Each of the players opted out of the class action settlement back in August 2013 with the NFL, which provides limited compensation to former players, and seems mostly aimed at compensating those players who have the most severe brain damage from playing in the league.
