Grocery Store TBI Results in Confidential Settlement
The Mottley Law Firm is pleased to announce that it, along with Stephen M. Smith and David Holt of The Brain Injury Law Center in Hampton, Virginia, have successfully settled a claim for a client who was run over by a large re-stocking cart being hurriedly -- and blindly -- pushed through the store by a grocery store employee. Pushing the cart, as opposed to pulling it, was contrary to the grocery store chain's own rules and regulations, as well as basic safety practices used in the retail industry. The client, who found herself unknowingly in the path of the oncoming cart as she exited an aisle, was flung into the aisle's steel "end cap," where the side of her head collided with the shelving unit. She sustained a traumatic brain injury that has changed her life. Fortunately, a settlement of her claim was reached without a trial. The terms of the settlement, as well as the identity of the grocery store chain involved, are confidential pursuant to the terms of the settlement agreement.
